An avalanche of erotic desire? Perfectly toned physiques? Alluring lingerie? A romantically adorned bedroom in an expensive house? There’s no doubt that all these things can enrich and beautify sexual intimacy. But there’s one thing which beats them all and without which none of the above satisfy for long... Real Love Sexual intimacy, attraction, desire, fascination, affection, enjoyment, the erotic, fertility… It fills our books, magazines, art, fashion, music, movies and advertising. It holds a unique place in our imagination, thoughts and desire... Sexually Transmitted Infections There are more than 25 different STIs and many have no cure. STIs are not trivial. They can be highly infectious and can cause psychological, emotional and physical harm, including warts, long-term pain, cancer and death. In the UK, in 2006 alone, more than 615,000 men and women were diagnosed with an STI. Some of the facts... Pornography Porn is a very bad idea - personally, socially, economically. Porn might seem to be ok because it's all in my imagination. But that's precisely one of the problems. Porn manipulates and damages my imagination. It trains me to divorce sexual enjoyment from an environment of love, friendship, kindness and responsibility, to view the erotic beauty of a naked body outside of this dynamic context... Saving Sex What’s more romantic: a cheap microwave meal in front of the TV in the middle of the afternoon or a beautiful candle-lit dinner in an elegant river-side restaurant just after sunset? No comparison. Which requires more “effort”... Quick Facts Cohabiting couples report less sexual satisfaction than couples who save sex for marriage... The younger a teenage girl is when she becomes sexually active, the more likely she is to experience multiple sexual partners, STDs, out-of-marriage pregnancies, depression, abortion and poverty... Living Together Before Marriage “We want to get married but we’re going to live together first just to make sure we’re right for each other.” Sounds good. If I’m buying a new car, I expect to be able to test drive it first. And marriage is far more important and life-defining than new wheels. So surely it’s common sense to “trial run” it first?... Pizza Love Everyone wants love. But what does “love” mean? We love lots of things. I love that latest track by my favourite band. I love travelling to exotic places. I love pizza with pepperoni. I love my girlfriend. “Love” means something a bit different each time... Sexual Body Language Hi. We’ve not met, but I’m rich, famous and drop-dead handsome. I live in a big mansion in Switzerland and my (huge) garage is full of seriously expensive super-cars. Ok, that’s not exactly true. Actually, none of it’s true. I’m lying. (I know, you’re so surprised...) Dressed to Kill Plunging necklines, sexy mini-skirts, hot pants, lycra-loaded vests, semi-transparent ultra-tight jeans that dissolve in sunshine. Ok, we made that last one up. But you get the picture. When it comes to fashion for us girls, year in year out, it's mainly about...sex. Sex, sex and...err...more sex.
